Vw 2003 Jetta Wagon
What is your experience level? Do you have the space to work and maybe an occasional helper?
What is left over from the donor car?
You'll need engine bay wiring harness, preferably the dashboard wiring harness, (ECU, instrument cluster, and key swap means no immobilizer problems) and fuel lines. The fuel tank pump will be too high pressure for a TDI since it's designed for a gasser but I think most people just ignore it. Personally I'd put in some check valve to limit it to no more than 5 psi and make sure that if the pump fails the engine won't get starved of fuel.
While engine is out, I'd also do the timing belt and preferably the clutch if needed.
Most states will allow engine swaps as long as the car passes emissions for the year of manufacture.
FS: Clean Reflex Silver Wagon 1.8T w/ Tiptronic Auto trans. Pretty clean paint, no body damage, tinted windows, blk. cloth interior, 16" VW Alloy wheels, Great tires --2 front tires are pretty much NEW. 2nd Owner car. Everything in the interior works and looks good. First owner was a woman in LA who used only VW/Audi dealers. I had a stack of complete maintenance history---we've moved so I have misplaced. Looking for it now.....
She'd always had synthetic Castrol oil changes at dealer every 3-5K.
She replaced:
Cooling fans and control module, New Turbo, new Transmission control module, some vacuum hoses, timing belt at 85K along with water pump, tensioner, etc. and a few other misc things.
I replaced in my ownership: New battery and crank position sensor and had the windows.
We just got a Honda Hybrid for my girl's commute--so I am taking our A4--the car was/is great. Runs great, FAST and good mileage. I hate to get rid of it but we dont need as many cars as we have.
The car needs a valve cover gasket--I can leave as is and adjust price down to reflect the need to do the job ($150 to replace at INDY shop)or you can do yourself or I can have it done for you--your call.
Let me know if interested and PM me an email and I will get some pics out to you.
Thx.
