When the new Civic hatch was unveiled in 2005, the world stopped what it was doing and stared. This wasn't an evolution of the previous model, it was a full-on Buck Rogers in the 25th Century makeover. Hondas were finally exciting to look at.
Civic Engines
From launch in early 2006, the Civic was available with 1.4 and 1.8 petrol engines and a 2.2 diesel unit.
The 1.4 i-DSi petrol is economical and produces relatively low amounts of CO2, but it's short on performance, taking a lengthy 14.6sec to reach 62mph and having a top speed of only 106mph. The official average mpg of 47.9 is respectable but in reality owners should expect high 30s.
