Econoline Wagon

Pine Creek Grist Mill rises more than 80 feet above the falling waters below, a time-darkened oak structure surrounded thick woods. The scene appears much as it did more than a century ago, when settlers from miles around arrived aboard horse-drawn wagons, heavy with harvested wheat and corn to be ground into flour and meal. Located in southeast Iowa’s Wildcat Den State Park, the Mill offers a rich historical experience in a setting of incredible natural beauty.

A Living Piece of Iowa History

Pine Creek Grist Mill became a place for socializing. Farmers and settlers who brought grain for grinding often waited their turn at the Mill for days, enjoying food, drink and music. The expression “milling around” comes from this practice.
